Emily & Mike Kenyon | June 7, 2025
This past weekend brought us to one of Vermont’s most charming tucked-away venues — The Inn at Weathersfield — for a wedding that felt like stepping straight into a secret garden.
Emily and Mike envisioned their day as if guests had wandered into a romantic, overgrown greenhouse, with flowers and greenery spilling from every surface beneath a clear top frame tent — and we loved helping bring this vision to life.
Designing the Garden Greenhouse Look
From our very first conversations, Emily shared her love of plants and her desire for the space to feel alive — with an abundance of greenery and flowers that seemed to grow in place, blurring the line between indoors and out.
We layered textural greenery — including water oak, viburnum, Italian ruscus, Solomon’s seal, and other trailing elements — with soft, garden-inspired blooms in a palette of blush, peach, lilac, coral, pink, green, and white. The clear tent allowed the sky and surrounding forest to stay visually present, while the interior felt like a lush, inviting greenhouse.
The Ceremony
One of our favorite moments to design was the ceremony installation. We worked closely with Emily to create a very organic, plant-driven design that celebrated her deep love of plants and her vision of bringing the outside in.
A sculptural arrangement of Boston ferns, deer foot ferns, and blue star ferns framed the ceremony space, creating the effect of a living, breathing garden rather than a traditional floral arch. The texture and variety of the ferns added incredible depth and softness — perfectly aligned with the natural Vermont backdrop.
Following the ceremony, the ferns were carefully repurposed throughout the reception tent, continuing that greenhouse garden feeling well into the evening.
Reception Under the Tent
Inside the clear top tent, we carried the garden theme through every layer of the design. Overhead, we wove greenery across the roofline, adding softness and an immersive sense of nature.
But the true showstopper of the night was the eight-foot-long hanging floral chandelier suspended over the head table — an installation dripping with lush blooms, cascading greenery, and glass globes holding twinkling candles. As darkness fell, the chandelier seemed to float midair, casting a magical glow over the dinner.
On the tables below, Blue Door Flower Co. curated a deeply personal and layered look. She sourced antique silver candelabras and vintage glass candleholders, which we filled with dusty rose taper candles in varying heights for a romantic, collected feel.
For florals, we created lush, large bud vases in shades of peach, lilac, coral, pink, green, and white, artfully placed to form an ombre effect on each table — a subtle, playful design moment that made every guest’s experience feel thoughtful and unique.
As a final personal touch, Emily’s mother provided a treasured Waterford crystal compote, which we filled with a large statement floral arrangement for their family table — a meaningful and beautiful way to weave family history into the celebration.
A Joyful June Celebration
This wedding was a true celebration of nature, creativity, and personal meaning — the perfect way to welcome the start of summer. It was a joy to collaborate with Emily and Mike and an incredible vendor team to bring this greenhouse garden vision to life at one of Vermont’s most special venues.
