As a New England wedding florist, I’ve had the joy of designing in some of the most breathtaking venues across Vermont and beyond. Over the years, certain places have captured my heart — not just for their beauty, but for the way they make celebrations feel effortless, warm, and unforgettable.
Whether you’re planning an intimate garden ceremony, a grand tented affair, or a destination wedding that reflects your story, these are some of my favorite venues to design at — along with a few dream destinations I can’t wait to create in one day.
It’s no wonder that Woodstock, Vermont — and its iconic Woodstock Inn — are consistently found on top venue lists year after year, from WedVibes and Boston Magazine to Travel + Leisure. The town’s legacy, including the Inn itself, is deeply rooted in Laurance Rockefeller’s passion for preservation and conservation. In the 1960s, Rockefeller and his wife Mary restored the Inn and preserved her ancestral home, now part of Marsh-Billings-Rockefeller National Historical Park (fun fact: it’s Vermont’s only national park!).

We’re currently based in Woodstock, so of course The Woodstock Inn is near and dear to our hearts. When it comes to weddings, the Inn is almost unparalleled in terms of service, ceremony and reception options, and guest experience. From the understated elegance of the Ballroom to the opulent Rockefeller Room with sweeping views of the back lawn and gardens, or the more relaxed, garden-forward feel of Kelly Way Gardens, couples can truly create any atmosphere they imagine.
With both indoor and outdoor spaces, cocktail hour on the front lawn, and room for large tented receptions, it’s the perfect place for guests to relax, explore, and celebrate. The town itself has undergone a renaissance since 2020 — visitors can now enjoy craft cocktails at Au Comptoir, dine at one of several farm-to-table restaurants, and hike or bike the local trails, all within walking distance.

Things To Do:
Eat: Santé, The Farmer and the Bell, and The Prince and the Pauper
Drink: Au Comptoir, The Red Rooster, and the Ottauquechee Yacht Club
Play: Hike Mt. Tom, visit Billings Farm + Museum, or ski at Saskadena Six
Relax: The Woodstock Inn Spa — a Scandinavian-inspired retreat with a cedar sauna, eucalyptus steam room, and saltwater pool. (Emma’s favorite!)
Yes — those von Trapps. And yes, it’s every bit as breathtaking as you’d imagine. The Trapp Family Lodge is perched high in the mountains overlooking Stowe, with rolling meadows, grazing sheep, and gardens that could easily belong in the Austrian Alps.

The views here are unforgettable — especially at sunset, when the light spills across the Green Mountains. The Lodge blends alpine charm with Vermont hospitality, offering a perfect balance of warmth and sophistication. From intimate garden ceremonies to large tented celebrations on the meadow, it’s one of our favorite places to design.
The property’s natural beauty lends itself beautifully to organic, textural designs — think wildflower-inspired arrangements, birch accents, and abundant local greenery. Guests can enjoy everything from farm-fresh meals at the Lodge to craft brews from the on-site Trapp Brewery.
Things To Do:
Eat: The Bierhall, Harrison’s Restaurant, or Plate in nearby Stowe Village
Drink: Trapp Brewery & Bierhall, Doc Ponds, or The Whip Bar & Grill
Play: Explore Stowe Pinnacle, bike the Stowe Recreation Path, or visit Bingham Falls
Relax: Book a massage at the Trapp Family Lodge Spa or take in the mountain views from their meadow trails
For couples dreaming of a modern mountain experience, Spruce Peak offers luxury and adventure in equal measure. Set at the base of Stowe Mountain Resort, this venue combines dramatic alpine scenery with impeccable service and amenities.

The architecture and interiors lean elegant and contemporary, with panoramic views that make a breathtaking ceremony backdrop in every season. We love working here in all seasons, especially in the summer with a lush backdrop of forests and Mount Mansfield — receptions nestled in the hills, cozy textures, and florals that echo the natural landscape.
Guests can ski, golf, hike, and explore the village’s shops and restaurants, making it an ideal all-in-one destination wedding spot.

Things To Do:
Eat: Alpine Hall at Spruce Peak, Cork Restaurant + Natural Wine Shop, or Butler’s Pantry
Drink: WhistlePig Pavilion (perfect for the after party!), The Skinny Pancake Bar, or The Roost at Topnotch
Play: Ski or snowboard at Stowe Mountain Resort, zipline or hike through Smugglers Notch State Park
Relax: The Spa at Spruce Peak — incredible mountain views, hot tubs, and hydrotherapy
If you’ve been dreaming of a wedding surrounded by gardens, herbs, and rustic charm, The Herb Lyceum is a hidden gem just outside Boston. This working farm and restaurant has an intimate, timeless feel — it’s the kind of place where guests linger under twinkle lights, wine in hand, as the sun sets over the fields.

The Herb Lyceum feels like stepping into another world: rows of herbs, climbing roses, and the greenhouse reception space lend themselves to organic, romantic floral designs. It’s a venue that celebrates the beauty of the land itself, which aligns perfectly with our sustainable, garden-inspired philosophy.
We especially love designing tablescapes here — they almost blur the line between dining and garden. The sunken garden is a perfect ceremony location, surrounded by stone walls, established perennial gardens, and a beautifully manicured lawn.

Things To Do:
Eat: Gibbet Hill Grill in Groton, The Groton Inn’s Forge & Vine, or Main Street Café
Drink: Nashoba Valley Winery or Able Ebenezer Brewing Company in nearby Merrimack, NH
Play: Visit Fruitlands Museum, explore the local farms, or hike nearby trails
Relax: Spend a night at The Groton Inn or wander the herb gardens at golden hour
There’s something incredibly special about creating a wedding at a private estate. Whether it’s a family home, historic property, or a seaside retreat, these spaces offer unmatched intimacy and storytelling potential. Logistically, these types of events tend to have a lot more involved-a great wedding planner will help everything run seamlessly (we always recommend hiring one, particularly with private estate events).

Private estate weddings allow for total creative freedom — from sprawling tented receptions to floral installations that transform the landscape itself. Each property carries a story, and our job is to bring that story to life through flowers.
We’ve designed for estates throughout Vermont, coastal Massachusetts, and Florida, and each one has been uniquely memorable — a blend of personal history and natural beauty that simply can’t be replicated at a traditional venue.

Things To Do:
Eat: Find local farm-to-table restaurants or bring in a private chef for an at-home rehearsal dinner
Drink: Enjoy local wines, craft breweries, or a bespoke cocktail bar experience
Play: Host lawn games, explore nearby beaches, or plan a weekend itinerary for guests
Relax: Spend time with family — the quiet, personal setting is often what makes estate weddings so special
From mountain lodges in Stowe to herb gardens in Massachusetts, every venue has its own rhythm, palette, and sense of place — and that’s what inspires every design we create at Blue Door Flower Co.
Our approach to wedding florals is rooted in seasonality, artistry, and an appreciation for natural beauty. Whether you’re planning your Vermont wedding at The Woodstock Inn, celebrating at a coastal estate, or dreaming of a destination celebration abroad, we’d love to bring your floral vision to life.
